The inventory browser provides a graphical representation of your organization’s material inventory, grouped by areas and containers

The browser is laid out in two sections - a tree-based browser on the left with details on the right.

To add new areas to the browser, click the + button in the upper left and select any area or container type. The fields for registering a new item will depend on the item type. The types of entities which can be created in the inventory browser are listed below:

  • Area - Top level of the browser, requires only a name. This is often the name of a specific lab or storage facility.
  • Cold Storage, Ambient Storage, Shelf, Storage Rack, Drawer, Box, Tube Rack - These are containers in which other containers can be placed for organizational purposes. When registering, enter the number to create and their destination.
  • Plate - When registering a plate in the inventory browser, specify the number of copies to create, the destination, and then select the lots to fill a well with. Click the +Add button to add a different lot (with a different color). Select the wells, and then click Fill.
  • Tube, Vial - When registering a tube or vial, select a destination, and then whether the tube/vial is Liquid or Solid. If liquid, the form will require lot, volume, and concentration . If solid, the form will require a lot and amount.

When selecting an entity in the inventory browser, the display on the right will vary depending on the entity type. Examples are below for a storage area, plate, and vial display.
